Family Promise

Family Promise

If you are struggling as a result of the economic impact of COVID-19, we can help with rent, utilities, housing and basic needs.  Please reach out us by phone 317-296-3742, email or click this link to be redirected to our website with a full list of resources.

Messiah ELCA in partnership with Faith Lutheran in Avon and Good Samaritan Episcopal Church, will be hosting homeless Hendricks County families participating in the Family Promise program at Messiah.

Family Promise helps families with children get back on their feet providing them housing in local churches, giving them tools to find a job, manage their money and whatever else they need.  Messiah is fortunate to be a part of this program which has a 95% success rate.

Family Promise occurs once a quarter for one week at a time. There are usually 3 families with a maximum of 11 individuals.  The families are with us from 5p.m. to 6:30a.m. from a Sunday to a Saturday.  Dinner and breakfast are provided by volunteers.  Volunteers are needed in the evening hours to be available to help with homework, play games, or sit and chat.  Overnight volunteers stay at Messiah from 8p.m. - 7a.m.  Their main purpose is to help the families get up and ready to meet the van in the morning, be there at night in case of emergency, and sleep.  Contact Teresa Rader for more information.
